In 1989 we visited our long time friends John and Marylin Guido in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador for two weeks. While there we felt the Lord was calling us to support the small work of about 40 people. When we returned we began making plans to pick up stakes and leave for Cuenca. We shared the vision with our home church, The Mission Church, and they also felt it was the will of God. In July of 1990 we arrived in Cuenca and began to work, learning the language and culture. The first few years were difficult. Lauren was seven months pregnant with our last child and home schooling our other three. The transition period lasted about three years but the small work began to grow. Today we have over 400 attending and we are starting a Christian School in October. We are praying for a new facility because we have two services on Sunday but it is still not enough room. New families are coming every week and are responding to the message of Gods love. They are experiencing a new life in Christ and are sharing it with their relatives and friends.

Along with the church we started a foundation, Fundacion Hogar which means home foundation. It is a medical outreach to those who cannot afford the high costs of private clinics. We have our own operating room and a full-time doctor for general medicine who sees 400 patients a month. We perform on an average of 25 operations a month. If any doctors are interested in doing medical brigades we can arrange everything. There are 12 doctors who are part of our congregation which also give of themselves to support the foundation. We thank God for His blessing on the church and the foundation. We are believing for great and mighty things to happen in the near future.
