Gerald and Betty Huston

Ministry: Evangelizing.

Gerald and Betty Huston served as missionaries in Switzerland from 1965 to 1968; in London from 1969 to 1972; in France from 1972 to 1980 and again in London from 1981 to 1983 with another missionary organization. In November 1983 they were led by the Lord to join World Missions Far Corners, Inc. as independent missionaries, continuing their ministry in London. Now, for a number of years, they have been stationed in Croydon, England; however, their ministry also expands into Poland as well as the Ivory Coast, West Africa and other countries as the Lord burdens their hearts.

Croydon, England: The Street Evangelism ministry, where a number of Bible School students join them each Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, proves to be fruitful in the number of souls coming to Christ. Soup Kitchen programs are provided to some of the homeless men and women, as well as ministry in a home for the mentally disturbed. Many are receiving spiritual help through presentation of the Word and prayer. It has been a blessing as they team up with others from different churches to provide both physical and spiritual food to these needy ones. Follow-up of those who accept the Lord Jesus as their own personal Savior is an important factor in all facets of evangelism. Special emphasis is placed on evangelism in all departments of the fast-growing Croydon church. Many of the 34 home groups arrange various informal activities to invite folk to -- including barbecues, picnics, outings and trips to the coast.

Betty enjoys working with a friendship evangelism group called ALPHA, a ten-week comprehensive course open to anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith as well as for new Christians. Many believers who attend ALPHA have grown stronger in their faith. It's exciting to see the change in people during the Course, especially during the Away-Day in the middle, where they receive teaching on the Holy Spirit and get away from their daily circumstances. Many have become more integrated into the life and activities of the church.

Ivory Coast, West Africa: Gerald enjoys visiting the Ivory Coast at least once a year for a few weeks. He's enjoyed several visits to Abidjan where he ministered with Loren and Jeri Kennedy who are also a part of World Missions Far Corners. He also spends time visiting and encouraging those he has led to the Lord on previous visits as well as teaching and preaching in Danane, Man and other cities. His visits to Man include encouraging more than 50 Liberian refugee prison inmates.

POLAND: Trips into Poland usually last about three weeks during the year and include ministry in Auswitchz, Biopole, Chelm, Gdansk, Novy Sach, Novy Targ, Sobotka, Tarnov, Warsaw, Wroclaw, etc. Gospel tracts and tapes for distribution are taken. Follow-up of those ministered to on previous trips is an important part of the evangelism endeavors.
