| It is forty miles from my home to
the Dallas County Jail. There are actually five separate jails in the building
and I may visit with inmates in one or all five each time I go. It is sixty
miles to the McKinney Jail where I teach a Bible study on Tuesday, once a
month. The juvenile facility is about forty-five miles away. My newest ministry
is the Seagoville Federal Prison. Three of us hold a weekly Thursday night
Bible study with nine inmates who love God and study diligently. It is a joy to
be involved in this ministry. I accompany our pastor during his weekly visitation with the sick, the elderly, new members, and recently delivered addicts. God is saving souls in our church and they are attending regularly. Just this week one of our member's unsaved husband told his drug addict brother that he needed help and that he should call our pastor. (His wife and sister-in-law have just been delivered from drugs.) The man did so and he, his wife, and his mother came to the church. The pastor called me to come and help pray. All three gave their hearts to the Lord. This happened on Thursday and the following Sunday they were in church giving testimony of their deliverance. A while back I delivered a death notice to an inmate named Joseph. His mother in Massachusetts had passed on. He was bitter and refused to talk or take counsel. I sent him literature each month and prayed. Four months later I was surprised to receive a note of thanks for the literature. Later he sent me a request asking me to visit him. I was not able to lead him to Christ, but the barrier was broken down. I continued to send him literature until he was sent back to Massachusetts. Please pray for this man.
